Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Photofacial in Murrieta, CA

WHAT IS AN INTENSE PULSED LIGHT (IPL) PHOTOFACIAL?

If you struggle with your complexion because of dark spots or sun damage, our team at Ageless Grace in Murrieta, CA can perform a skin assessment to determine if you can benefit from intense pulsed light (IPL) therapy. An IPL photofacial helps rejuvenate the skin and reduces hyperpigmentation problems on their neck and face. Even though a photofacial is a nonsurgical procedure, it can provide effective and beautiful results. IPL uses intense wavelengths of light energy, which heat the skin to encourage healing and stimulate collagen production. Over time, you should start to see a healthier complexion with an even tone and fewer dark spots. To help reduce the effects of sun damage, we encourage our Menifee, Wildomar, Temecula, Canyon Lake, Winchester, Wildemare, and Lake Elsinore, CA communities to call and learn more about this innovative procedure.

WHO IS A CANDIDATE FOR IPL?

Candidates for IPL have one or a combination of cosmetic issues that make them unhappy with their appearance. Ageless Grace will perform a skin assessment to evaluate your needs and determine if IPL can improve your complexion. IPL is not recommended for those with active lesions or infections in the treatment area. Please inform us of any medications you are taking, as some make your skin more sensitive to treatment. Our team will also examine your skin type to make sure you are not photosensitive.

WHAT TO EXPECT WITH INTENSE PULSED LIGHT THERAPY

IPL therapy can address several complexion issues, including brown lesions, sun spots, rosacea, melasma, or age spots. Patients can undergo a photofacial treatment without the recovery time or expense of surgery. During your consultation, we will assess your skin, listen to your concerns, and create a personalized treatment plan. Once we have a treatment plan, it takes us about 20 – 30 minutes to complete the procedure.

At the time of your appointment, one of our skilled aestheticians starts the procedure by cleaning the skin and covering your eyes with protective goggles. Next, the IPL device is carefully moved over the treatment area while emitting pulses of light energy. You may experience some discomfort, but because the treatment is short, many patients find it bearable. Once we have finished the treatment, you can resume your daily activities. Over several days, the blemishes under your skin will rise to the surface and start to flake off. To protect the skin and ensure proper healing, you should use a cream on the treated area, always wear sun protection, and avoid picking at peeling skin. While you see significant improvements after your first treatment, you usually need multiple IPL photofacial treatments. We suggest around 3 – 6 treatments for optimal results.

 IPL FAQ

How much does IPL cost?

Every patient case is unique, which means the cost of IPL will vary based on your condition. Ageless Grace offers specials on treatments like IPL often, and we accept most payment methods. During your initial visit, we can estimate your cost and recommend the number of treatments needed to match your goals.

How quick are the results from IPL?

Some results can usually be seen following one IPL treatment, but the best results are visible about one month after a full series of treatments is completed. It is common for you to see different responses following each treatment session. You should see fading of blotchiness, redness, and spots (age, brown, and sun damage).

What are the possible side effects of IPL?

You may experience mild, temporary side effects, like redness, swelling, blisters, bruising, or crusting. These fade within a day or two after the procedure. Your skin will be sun sensitive, and damaging UV rays will negatively impact the results of the procedure. You should also wear sunscreen to protect your skin and prevent issues like redness and spots.

Do I need to prep for IPL?

Patients about to undergo an IPL treatment are asked to skip self-tanners and excessive sun for at least 2 – 4 weeks before their treatment. You might need to discontinue the use of certain medications a few days before each appointment, and you may want to start taking aspirin or ibuprofen one week before your treatment to reduce inflammation, which lowers your chance of bruising. You should also use sunscreen between sessions.

Why should I get multiple IPL sessions?

A full series of IPL photorejuvenation is recommended to produce gradual, natural-looking improvements to the appearance of your skin. Each treatment helps to reduce spots and other surface irregularities. Several sessions also allow for longer-lasting improvements.
